January 2028. An unexpected blizzard descends on the Catskill Mountains. Haley Wolfe, a solo winter camper up from Manhattan loses her way in the frigid squall. Seeking shelter she stumbles across Neversink, a long abandoned and once popular Catskills resort. Here, she encounters Tim, a troubled man who owns a local sugarbush. Snowbound, they hunker down together in the derelict resort, taking refuge from the relentless storm.

Over 1,000 miles to the south, in Palm Beach, elderly couple Garry and Miriam Levine, the owners of Neversink, find that haunting memories from the past have been awakened. In the dead of winter Miriam is compelled to leave their sunny oceanfront estate in Florida and head north to the mountains of New York. The Levines arrive at Neversink—a place they have forsaken since the winter of 1982—to find that a wicked secret they covered up for decades has been discovered . . .
